Pärnu

Pärnu is a historical beautiful resort seaside city with a small harbour in the South-Western part of Estonia. Pärnu has been the official Summer Capital of Estonia for many years - Pärnu became the Summer Capital of Estonia in 1996 and in 2015, Pärnu will be declared the Summer Capital of Estonia for the 20th time! The Pärnu Resort is considered to have been created in 1838 when the first bathing facility was opened here. In fact, this resort city has been synonymous with sun, sea and beach.

The sun is not confined merely to Pärnu, however. The shores surrounding the city have a climate that can be described as one of the warmest in Estonia. It’s the sun that symbolizes recreation and tourism in Pärnu, as do the Solar Circles, which connect Pärnu County, the Summer Capital of Pärnu, and the four tourism regions of Pärnu County.

We are proud of the fact that Pärnu is an internationally recognized city, housing spas, a theatre and wonderful places for staging concerts. Both the city and county offer multiple opportunities for enjoying active recreation and holidays all year round, and conference tourism is developing rapidly. Pärnu is beautiful and unspoilt nature is much more than just delightful views and clean air. Pärnus`s green parks are its pride and joy.

With a history dating back as long as 11 000 years, Pärnu is a true pearl for any architecture and history lover. The city itself was established 1251 and became one of the rich vibrant Hanseatic cities during medieval period. Its status as a Hanseatic city adds a historic tone to contemporary Pärnu. These days, medieval traditions are kept alive in yearly Hanseatic festivals. The people of Pärnu had the honor of hosting the contemporary Hanseatic cities at the 30th International Hanseatic Days medieval festival in 2010.

Pärnu has something for everybody. There’s always a reason to visit and revisit Pärnu!

Welcome to Pärnu!
